Concrete countertops: customize with class

Concrete countertops: You can grind or polish, color or stain, stamp, stencil or texturize them. You can even embed memories such as seashells, rocks or coins in them. They look equally compelling in bathrooms, indoor and outdoor kitchens. They offer homeowners the option to create something truly unique. Because they are made in custom molds, these countertops can be configured to any shape. "Concrete provides endless possibilities for creative expression," states designer and concrete master, Fu-Tung Cheng.
Concrete is extremely durable, but it does require some care and maintenance. Countertops need occasional waxing, sealing or oiling. Cleaning recommendations are that you use soap and water only, and avoid bleach-based products. It's also important to wipe up spills as soon as possible, particularly those from acidic foods. Do-it-yourselfers who want to save some money by designing and fabricating their own countertops would be well advised to enroll in a workshop.
